“Through paintings, drawings, and prints I explore how Haitian history, vodou cosmology, art history and contemporary life collide, echo, and inform one another. My work prompts questions about revolution and freedom, the use and characterization of violence, heroism and villainization, beauty and ugliness in the context of Caribbean and African American culture.”

Lloyd-Princeton Cangé is a second-generation Haitian American painter currently pursuing an MFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design.
